Celebration of Distinguished Service Award Recipients Deborah Kempe and Milan Hughston

Please join your fellow members of the ARLIS/NA New York chapter in celebrating two of our chapter members who recently received the ARLIS/NA Distinguished Service Award.

The 2020 Distinguished Service Award recipient is Deborah Kempe. Debbie recently retired from 25 years of providing transformative leadership as the chief of collections management and access at the Frick Art Reference Library, bringing intellectual curiosity, an international perspective and courage in applying new technology to the discovery and use of art information. The 2019 Distinguished Service Award recipient is Milan Hughston. Milan held and distinguished himself in leadership positions in significant art institutions such as Librarian at the Amon Carter Museum (1979–1999) and Chief of Library at the Museum of Modern Art (1999–2016). His accomplishments represent the highest professional standards, from his focus on developing collections of Latin American art to MoMA’s program of artists’ books commissions. Since we were unable to celebrate Debbie and Milan's achievements in person at the 2020 or 2021 ARLIS/NA conferences, we would like to take an opportunity to do so here in New York. Please join us on Tuesday, June 15th at LIC Landing for a casual outdoor gathering of ARLIS/NA New York members and any guests you wish to bring. We will be there from 5 to 7pm, so feel free to stop by anytime during then. LIC Landing has a walk-up window where drinks and food can be purchased individually.
